POUR UN SOURIRE D ENFANT (PSE)

Business Overview

National Road No 6, Phum Kassekam Khum Sra Nger, Srok Siem Reap, Siem Reap Province.

PSE started in 1995, on the day we saw children eating in the filth of the dump-site in Stung Meanchey in Phnom-Penh in Cambodia. It was appalling. Having seen that, it was not possible to continue to live normally. Something had to be done.

First we started to bring meals to the garbage dump, but very soon we realized that the situation went beyond our forces and resources. We returned to France to alarm our families, friends, and everyone we knew. To tell them what we had discovered, and thanks to their overwhelming mobilization we were able to return to Cambodia and create "Pour un Sourire d'Enfant" (for a child's smile).

Once the children were provided decent meals and didn't need to eat trash any more, we were convinced that the most important goal was schooling. Actually, all they were asking for was "One meal a day, and the opportunity to go to school!"

Then we realized that school is not enough. They needed true professional skills and a quality professional training - only thus would they be able to turn their back to misery.

Today, more than 4000 children from PSE go to school and 1500 youngsters follow vocational training.

Yet, besides school and professional training there are many things these children never had experienced, which are crucial for the success of our educational projects: hygiene, nutrition, medical and psychological care, protection, support to their families...

Today, we still depend on your help if we want to offer a future to Cambodian children, the poorest of the poor, working under extremely hard and dangerous conditions.

They never went to school, are mistreated, and cannot expect anything from life. Your and our goal is to lead them out of misery, and give them a chance to live their live in dignity!

We can do it: our alumni confirm it every day.
