This Life Cambodia is focused on educational development that directly benefits the lives of children, youth and their communities in Cambodia. We believe that every child has the right to free, high-quality education.

Without an education or training, a child is immediately disadvantaged and far less likely to achieve their true potential. This Life Cambodia works to improve the quality of and access to education in Cambodia by listening to, engaging with and advocating alongside communities.

At This Life Cambodia we focus on working with communities to develop projects that provide or enhance educational opportunities and directly benefit the lives of children and their communities in Cambodia. Our programs provide an opportunity for communities to develop the essential infrastructure, skills and programs needed to make positive change in their lives and break free from poverty.

We currently have four program areas:

Student Assistance

This Life Cambodia’s Student Assistance program comprises the Student Scholarship Project Pedal out of Poverty and Light up a Life with Solar. As well as these three projects This Life Cambodia also operates an Internship Project, providing two recent high school graduates, from underprivileged backgrounds, the opportunity to receive higher education through on the job training and university education.

Lower Secondary School Development Program

This program has been implemented as a means to creating sustainable solutions for education needs in economically disadvantaged and under-served communities. This program is focused on community participation and community led solutions and is designed to be long-term sustainable, rather than creating donor-dependency. The program is consistent with government education policy, supports the principles of Child Friendly Schools, and reflects This Life Cambodia’s core values.

This Life Beyond Bars

This Life Beyond Bars aims to address the educational rights of children affected by the legal justice system in Siem Reap, and to promote and defend these rights. This Life Beyond Bars aims to increase access to and the ability to engage in education for children in prison as well as increase access to education for children whose parent(s) are in prison. This Life Beyond Bars works to increase knowledge of and access to rights for children and families affected by the justice system.

This Life Beyond Bars achieves its goals through three program areas: Vocational Training, Family Capacity Building and Community Development.

Community Research and Consultancy

This Life Cambodia is focused on sustainable educational development projects that directly benefit the lives of children and their communities in Cambodia. Conducting Community Research is a fundamental component that enhances This Life Cambodia’s ability to address complex issues such as cost barriers to education. Research provides useful information so that it can more effectively deliver programmatic activities, and ensures This Life Cambodia is on-track to meet its mission. In addition, consultancy activities help connect This Life Cambodia to other NGOs, government and academic communities involved in educational development by providing services where This Life Cambodia has conducted research or obtained experience, knowledge, and expertise through its programs.
