Academic of Western International School

1.  Grading System

WIS applies a grading system based on Western Educational System. There are four  types of

reports: Progress Reports, Quarterly Reports, Semester Report and End-of-year Reports.

2.  Progress Reports

Progress Reports are issued at every mid quarter. Parents and teachers should meet and

discuss to fide ways to help the students if their academic performance or attitude is poor.

3.  Quarterly reports

Grades are an evaluation of what students have learned. They become a permanent record that

will affect the student’s educational history for years to come. Potential employers and institutions

of higher education are all interested in high school records.

Quarterly reports are issued at the end of each quarter. The quarterly report shows grades of all

subjects, teachers’ comments, and class ranks. The quarterly grade is obtained from student

conduct, class participation, homework/ assignment/project, and tests. The quarterly grade

average is calculated for convenient purposes.

4.  Semester Reports

The final semester grade indicates the teacher’s judgment of the student’s mastery of the subject

material. The semester grade is obtained from quarterly grades and final exam grades.

5.  End-of-Year reports

The end-of year grade indicates the judgment of the student’s academic performance for the

whole year. This grade goes on the student’s permanent record and is reported to employers and

colleges as requested. The end-of-year grade is obtained from grades of semesters 1 and 2.
