FLORICAN GRASSLAND
Located approximately 85km (two hours) southeast of Siem Reap, the Florican Grassland is home to the Bengal Florican. Situated alongside Tonle Sap Great Lake, the floodplain and grasslands are protected areas, which are sustainably managed by the local community. This type of grassland conservation area is now becoming very rare across South-East Asia. It is now being patrolled regularly by government and community law enforcement teams, to try and prevent hunting and illegal land claims.

Florican Grassland Birds & Tour
This grassland supports more than half of the world population of the critically endangered Bengal Florican. It is also home to other rare species including: Manchurian Reed-warbler, Sarus Crane, raptors including Greater Spotted Eagle and Imperial Eagle, Pied Harrier and Eastern Marsh-harrier, Siberian Ruby Throat, Red Avadavat and the Small Buttonquail.
A birding trip to Florican Grassland can be done in one day, from Siem Reap, with a total travelling time of around 4 hours for the return journey. We do however suggest combing it with a visit to Tmatboey to see Giant Ibis and White-shouldered Ibis.
