Phnom Krom marshland is considered our best birding site to spend for a few hours in the countryside, located about 10km south from Siem Reap town. This open marshland with paddy fields, ponds, bushes, and grassland, stretches at the edge of the Great Tonle Sap Lake is great for visitors to find many common bird species including the waterbirds and waders. About 40 species of common bird species usually be seen during this few hours tour.

What to Expect

• Our bird guide with our tuk tuk driver will pick you up from your hotel lobby at 5.30am, as early as we can so we get the most of the morning time which is best for the birds and nature. (or 3pm for an afternoon tour).
• Please get yourself breakfast from your hotel, or you might want to come back for breakfast later after the tour is finished.
• Other things to bring: hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and insect repellent.
• CBGA is doing our campaign to reduce plastic waste that we will provide drinking water in a big container to refill, so we request you to bring your own water bottle from home or from your hotel.

Note:

• Birding at Phnom Krom marshland is available all year round and either in the morning (recommended) from 5.30am to 9.30am or in the afternoon from 3 pm to 6.30 pm.
• Yet generally, the best time for birding in Cambodia is in the dry season from November to early April. The birds are more active during this time when it is dry and cold, and the migratory birds also present.
