Day 1: Siem Reap Arrival

Discover the architectural treasures of Cambodia. Enjoy stops at Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom, a city founded by King Jayavarman VII. Visit some of the astounding masterpieces such as Bayon Temple, Terrace of Elephants, and Ta Prohm.
Sit back and relax as you're picked up from your hotel in Siem Reap. Then travel north to Angkor. En route, stop at Angkor Thom, the city that was founded by Angkor's greatest king, Jayavarman VII, and the last capital of the Khmer Empire.
As you walk in, pass by the gorgeous 65 foot (20 m) tall gates, and take in the beautiful views of the surroundings, remains of 10th-century stone monuments. Next, wander around the gorgeous Bayon Temple, a Buddhist shrine that retains elements of Hindu cosmology. See the Terrace of the Elephants and see the bas-reliefs of the Terrace of the Leper King. Lunch at local Restaurant by your own.

Later, visit Ta Prohm, a quiet monastery with a maze of courtyards and galleries, located in the jungle with overgrown trees and vines. Continue your tour to Angkor Wat, UNESCO-listed and a national symbol of Cambodia. Upon arrival, marvel at its architectural grandeur and snap photos of the majestic Khmer shrines, intricate Apsara carvings, and gorgeous sculptures around the temple.
After a day of exploration, hop back in your coach and relax on the journey back to your hotel. Overnight in Siem Reap

DAY 2: Siem Reap Exploration
We head further out through rural countryside to the small but beautiful temple of Banteay Srey. This temple is largely built of pink sandstone, a harder rock that can be more elaborately carved and better survives the rigors of time. This is an opportunity to capture some good photographs of the clear and detailed carvings. We continue to Banteay Samre: Its rose-colored sandstone walls are decorated with carvings and bas-reliefs, which are among the most accomplished Angkor has to offer.

We continue to visit Pre Rup, traditionally believed to be a funerary temple, but in fact the state temple of Rajendravarman II. Mebon, architecturally and artistically superior temple-mountain. Beautifully carved false doors on upper level as well as an excellent view of the surrounding countryside.
Banteay Kdei (surrounded by four concentric walls), Srah Srang - The Royal Baths" was once used for ritual bathing, Prasat Kravan - with its unique brick sculptures - Overnight in Siem Reap

DAY 3: Siem Reap Grand Circuit Exploration
After breakfast, a continuing full day tour for Angkor complex.

Morning, excursion to Grand Circuit, visit Pre Rup, traditionally believed to be a funerary temple, but in fact the state temple of Rajendravarman II. Mebon, architecturally and artistically superior temple-mountain. Beautifully carved false doors on upper level as well as an excellent view of the surrounding countryside. Tasom, the most distant temple on the grand circuit. Small but classic Jayavarman VII temple, Neak Pean, which means ‘coiled serpents’, from the encoiled nagas that encircled the temple. The temple is faced by a statue of the horse, Balaha, saving drowning sailors and Preah Khan, ‘Preah Khan' means 'sacred sword'. In harmony with Ta Prohm, which was dedicated to Jayavarman VII's mother, Preah Khan is dedicated to his father.

Visit Roluos Group include with Lolei, Preah Kô, Bakong – Located in the center of the first large scale Baray constructed by a Khmer King, that is an island temple consisting of four brick towers on a double late rite platform.

Enjoy a bird’s eye view of Angkor and its historical landmarks as you sail with the clouds and admire the majestic Angkor Wat. This stationary balloon offers panoramic views of Angkor, Siem Reap and the Barays, the large 10th century structure water reservoir which provided irrigation but had more functions which are unknown.

DAY 4: Siem Reap Koh Ker & Beng Mealea Exploration
The drive to the lost city of Koh Ker takes just over 2 hours, and passes through pleasant countryside to Beng Mealea village, where you’ll make a brief stop before continuing on to the first temple complex.

When you arrive you’ll drive on a clockwise circuit around the temples to take advantage of the morning light. The first temple you’ll see on this full-day tour is Prasat Pram, with its 5 towers, some of which are draped in tree roots. Prasat Chin, or the Chinese temple, is in a state of ruin and its blackened laterite tower is open to the sky.

Visit the small reservoir of Andong Preng (the sacred well of oil) before finishing the morning part of the tour at Prasat Thom. See the large moat, the 37-meter-high Prasat Thom pyramid, and numerous thousand-year-old brick temples and shrines.

Take a break for lunch in the temple area before heading out on the eastern part of the circuit, which features some of the largest temple lingas of the Khmer Empire. Prasat Krachap and Banteay Pichean are surrounded by forest, and you may see birds of prey, including eagles, circling overhead.
The tour now moves south to the jungle temple of Beng Mealea, situated behind huge walls and dripping with vegetation. Marvel at the huge trees growing out of the ruins. This temple was built 30 years before Angkor Wat, in a similar style and with a similar layout. You’ll have time for an in-depth exploration of this temple, taking an unusual route to see parts of this ruins seldom visited. New ramps and steps have made access easier, but in some areas you’ll be scrambling over tumbled blocks, and traversing high walls.

DAY 5: Kulen Mountain & Kampong Phluk Floating Village
Today we travel to the north of Siem Reap, Phnom Kulen is generally held to be the birthplace of the great Khmer empire that dominated Southeast Asia for five centuries. In 802AD, King Jayavarman II is reputed to have proclaimed independence from Java and founded the kingdom of Kambuja. His coronation took place in the Kulen Mountains and evidence of his fledgling realm can still be seen in this remote and fascinating part of Cambodia.

The Kulen National Park contains many sites of natural and historical interest. A magnificent waterfall dominates the forest terrain and draws countless local visitors on weekends and national holidays. In the nearby River of 1000 Lingas, thousands of linga stands remain submerged in the water. The cult of worshipping these phallic representations of the god Shiva was established by Jayavarman II and continued through the reigns of innumerable Angkorian kings.

A short walk from the waterfall is Wat Preah Ang Thom, a functioning wat that contains one of the largest Buddha statues in the country. The statue is housed atop a massive boulder and is accessible via a long flight of steps. A viewing platform at the top affords sweeping views of the surrounding jungle and hillsides.

In the afternoon we continue to visit Beng Melea, Built during the reign of King Suryavarman II and is contemporary with Angkor Wat and Thommanon. This period of temple design is considered the ‘Golden Age’ of classical Khmer architecture and represents the high water mark of the Angkorian empire.

Afternoon, you enjoy the boat cruise on the Great Lake of Tonle Sap at Kampong Phluk, its extraordinary bio-diversity and hydrology make it an ecological wonder of the world, offer visitors an insight into the old tradition of riparian life and natural splendour of Cambodia. On the way back, stop to have a look at the fishing villages which dot the semi-submerged forest that lines the flood plane rim of the lake, offering an excellent place to see lakeside rural Cambodia.
