This 10-day journey takes you from the majestic temples of Angkor in Siem Reap to the charming riverside town of Battambang, the bustling capital Phnom Penh, and finally the quiet coastal retreat of Kep. Along the way, you’ll explore world-famous sites like Angkor Wat and Bayon Temple, cruise past floating villages on Tonle Sap Lake, ride the quirky Bamboo Train, and discover Cambodia’s rich culture and tragic history at the Royal Palace, National Museum, and the Killing Fields. The adventure ends with relaxation by the sea, including a boat trip to Rabbit Island, where clear waters and palm-fringed beaches make for a perfect finale.
Day 1 – Arrival in Siem Reap
Your Cambodian adventure begins in Siem Reap. After meeting your guide, take a gentle walk along the riverside and spot the fruit-bats near the King’s Residence. Later, glide across Tonle Sap Lake on a traditional wooden boat, exploring floating villages before watching a beautiful sunset over Phnom Krom Mountain. The evening ends with a warm welcome dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 2 – The Wonders of Angkor
Wake up early for a Tuk Tuk ride to the atmospheric Ta Prohm Temple, where giant tree roots twist dramatically around ancient stone walls. After breakfast, dive into the grandeur of Angkor Thom, with highlights including the South Gate, the many-faced Bayon Temple, the Royal Enclosure, and the iconic Elephant Terrace. In the afternoon, marvel at the sheer scale of Angkor Wat, the largest religious monument in the world.
Day 3 – Hidden Jungle Temples
Step off the beaten path with a trip to Boeng Mealea, a sprawling, overgrown temple that feels lost to time. Its crumbling towers and detailed carvings create an unforgettable atmosphere. Continue to Peurng Kumnou, at the base of Kulen Mountain, where intricate carvings are hidden among the rocks. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the jungle before returning to Siem Reap.
Day 4 – Journey to Battambang
Travel by boat along the Sangker River, passing floating villages and peaceful countryside scenes. On arrival in Battambang, wander through streets lined with colonial-era buildings and stop at the Provincial Museum to see Khmer artifacts and sculptures.
Day 5 – Battambang Countryside Adventure
Begin the day at Phnom Sampov, a hill with dramatic views and caves once used during the Khmer Rouge era. Next, climb the 337 steps of Phnom Bannon to visit its 12th-century temple and take in the panorama of surrounding rice fields. A short ride on the quirky Bamboo Train gives you a fun and unique glimpse of rural life before ending the day at Wat Ek Phnom, an ancient riverside temple.
Day 6 – Battambang to Phnom Penh
Drive through the scenic countryside to Cambodia’s capital, Phnom Penh. Visit Wat Phnom, the small hilltop pagoda that gave the city its name, then explore the National Museum, home to thousands of Khmer artifacts, from ancient sculptures to royal barges.
Day 7 – Phnom Penh’s Highlights & History
Discover the Royal Palace, with its shimmering golden spires, ornate Throne Hall, and the beautiful Silver Pagoda, famous for its silver-tiled floor. In the afternoon, visit the Toul Sleng Genocide Museum and the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek—sobering but important sites that reflect Cambodia’s recent history.
Day 8 – Towards the Coast: Phnom Penh to Kep
Head south toward the coast, stopping at Phnom Tamao Wildlife Sanctuary, a rescue center for endangered species like sun bears and gibbons. Continue on to Kep, a quiet seaside town once favored by royalty, where you’ll have time to relax and enjoy the ocean breeze.
Day 9 – Escape to Rabbit Island
Take a short boat ride to Rabbit Island (Koh Tonsai), a laid-back paradise with clear waters, palm trees, and gentle waves. Swim, hike, or simply stretch out on the beach before returning to Kep in the afternoon.
Day 10 – Departure from Phnom Penh
After breakfast, transfer back to Phnom Penh for your onward flight, taking with you memories of ancient temples, countryside adventures, and lazy island days by the sea.
