Cambodia Trekking & Camping Tour

OVERVIEW
Trekking & Camping Tour in Cambodia has become possible after the Khmer Rouge has integrated all their forces into government forces in 1998. Then demining projects have been implemented around Cambodia for rural development and operning new places for tourists. In early 2000, Beng Mealea temple has been demined. As a result, it was choosen to shoot the in the movie starred by Indiana Jones later on. Back in 2001 when our team did the research for a possible camping tour at Koh Ker. It took us 2 days to go from Siem Reap to Koh Ker by a pick up truck for just about 100km. Our truck had to go through the mud in the jungle; we had to push our truck and it hardly moved. Now thing has completely changed. Three years, later Koh Ker temple have also been demined and a road has been built to access this pre-Angkorian temple complex.

This trip will make special as we can escape from the crowded tourists in Angkor complex. This special temple was featured in the Lost Temples by Indiana Jones and The Two Brothers by a French movie maker, Jean Clake Annaud. Beng Mealea is located 50km from Siem Reap. It is an untouched temple hidden in the jungle surrounded by its mood 900 meters by 1,200 meters. Beng Mealea is a beautiful, charming temple. It has it own character which cannot be found in any other temple. We can feel very peaceful sitting inside the temple as we can get rid of the many tourists at Angkor area. After the visit, we enjoy the snack and drinks before transferring to Koh Kher. Then we visit Sayong village before having a basic shower with cold water. We have dinner, Cambodian barbeque style and rice. Overnight in our tent.

Angkor period refers to the period from the year 800 when the first capital was settled in Rolous Groups and lasted in the year 1,432. The capital in Koh Ker remained for 20 years before it has been moved back to Angkor area and was settled at Phnom Bakheng where people climbed for the sunset.
